In the early ‘60s, Elio Di Felice, an Italian shoemaker from childhood and through his adult life in Italy, decided to make a trans-Atlantic move to Canada. It was in Canada that he established his own business as a cobbler and shoe retailer in downtown Thorold with Elio’s Shoes and Repairs. Like every hardworking European immigrant, Elio worked every day to service his local community as well as raise a family with his wife Lucia.

After almost 30 years, Elio passed down his business to his sons Mario and Rob. Armed with the same Italian traditions and skilled trade taught by Elio, the sons transformed the business into a household name in Niagara Falls and beyond. Elio’s Shoes and Repairs became Elio’s Footwear Inc.

In 2006, Elio’s expanded its product line by making customized shoes. Elio’s partnered with shoemakers from Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia in its pursuit of making quality, custom orthopedic footwear. The vision was to service clients with specialized ambulatory needs. Being in the heart of an aging population, Elio's would further build its business to service all those in need of foot comfort in the Niagara Region.

Elio’s has been an industry leader as a total Foot Comfort Centre for the last two decades, and is now poising itself to become an international leader in producing stylish, orthopedic shoes, as well as high-end, bespoke styles made for all walks of life!
